PNC Financial Services Is Doing Well But Has Limited Upside

One of the toughest things about being a stock investor is being disciplined about not overpaying for companies that are doing everything right. PNC Financial Services (NYSE:PNC) falls into this category. The bank is in that sweet spot of regional firms that I like - it's big enough to have clout and cost advantages, but not so big that it attracts undue regulatory attention. The ~$45B market cap company operates in 19 states with the greatest focus on PA, OH, and NJ. PA and OH in particular both have good economic outlooks in my view due to the positive side-effects of natural gas, and reasonable demographic profiles.
