For the U.S. technology company, being headquartered in Silicon Valley is akin to a badge of honor. A Cupertino, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, or Palo Alto address is seen as more than a headquarters. It is seen as a source of pride, innovation, and long-term potential. But it does not necessarily a source of profit. For every Silicon Valley company posting record revenues and/or profits, there are just as many that have not even begun to move towards sustained profitability.
