SAC Capital's 2007 Transactions: This Hedge Fund Has Been Busy

Master hedge fund SAC Capital has been busy so far in 2007 after returning 34% in 2006. Here is a list of transactions by the hedge fund in December of 2006 and so far in 2007. The firm's new 13F should be out shortly.

It should be noted that 7 of the 14 are retail/consumer related. Anyone else see another pattern?

02/01/07: Baldor Electric Co. (BEZ) - new 6.5% stake (2.8M shares)

02/01/07: CROCS Inc. (CROX) - stake raised to 5.3% (2.05M shares) from 121K shares at 09/30/06.

01/31/07: Par Pharmaceutical Companies Inc. (PRX) - stake raised to 9.9% (3.59M shares) from 5.2% based on 01/08 filing from 119K shares at 09/30/06.

01/31/07: Pantry Inc. (PTRY) - stake raised to 5.3% (1.2M shares) from 166K shares at 09/30/06

01/22/07: Phelps Dodge (PD) stake lowered to 4.1% (8.4M shares) from 5.1% (10.3M shares) Said they still intend to vote against the proposed FCX transaction. (13D filing)

01/22/07: Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (TTWO) - stake raised to 5.5% (4M shares) from 75K at 09/30/06

01/12/07: Cache Inc. (CACH) - stake raised to 5.2% (817K shares) from 82K shares at 09/30/06

01/08/07: Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. (BBW) - new 5% stake (1.035M shares)

12/29/06: WCI Communities Inc. (WCI) - new 6.5% stake (2.76M shares)

12/29/06: Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. (PSUN) - stake raised to 5.6% (3.89M shares) from 526K shares at 09/30/06
