Hasbro (HAS) is expected to report Q1 earnings before the market open on Thursday, April 14 with a conference call scheduled for 8:30 am ET.
Analysts are looking for a profit of 17c on revenue of $661.02M. The consensus range is 6c-24c for EPS, and revenue of $626.8M-$695.8M, according to First Call. In a February interview with CNBC, President and CEO Brian Goldner said the company expects it will be able to maintain gross margins in this environment. In March, the company announced an agreement to launch a new online game based on TRANSFORMERS in 2012 in North America, Latin America, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.
Additionally, Hasbro announced that Hasbro Studios split its boys/action and girls/preschool creative teams into separate series development and current programming groups to meet increased production output. Hasbro and rival Mattel (MAT) had reportedly been rumored to be interested in acquiring Leapfrog (LF). Analysts and investors will listen for comments on the progress of The Hub, its cable channel joint venture with Discovery Communications (DISCA). Last quarter, Hasbro reported weakness in its games segment, and analysts and investors will also look to see whether this is a continuing trend. In the year ago quarter, Hasbro reported EPS 26c on revenue of $672.4M.
