Fifty-three stocks (10.6%) in the S&P 500 have made a new 52-week high today, and all of these stocks are listed below. The stocks are sorted by the industry groups that they're in, and their year to date percentage changes are shown as well.
With oil surging recently, retail stocks continue to pleasantly surprise investors to the upside. Eight retailers in the S&P 500 have hit new 52-week highs today. Priceline.com (PCLN) is leading these retailers in terms of year to date performance with a gain of 32.99%. Abercrombie (ANF), TJX (TJX), Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY), Gamestop (GME) and Tiffany & Co. (TIF) are some other notable retailers on the new highs list.
"Software & Services" and "Health Care Equipment and Services" each have six names on the new 52-week high list. Teradata (TDC) has been the best performing of the Software and Services new highs in 2011, while Humana (HUM) is currently the best of the Health Care Equipment and Services stocks.
