A look at the top performing S&P 500 stocks so far this year shows that some stocks have had a huge reversal of fortune in 2011. As shown, this year's top three performing stocks (National Semi (NSM), Dean Foods (NYSE:DF), and Goodyear (NASDAQ:GT)) were all in the top 50 in terms of performance last year.

Dean Foods is the most notable reversal. Last year it was the worst performing stock in the S&P 500 with a decline of 51%. This year the stock is up 54% making it the second best performing stock in the index.

Of the top fifteen performers so far this year, only two -- Wynn Resorts (NASDAQ:WYNN) and Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) -- were on the list of best performers last year.
