Below we provide six-month price charts of the five big US financial institutions -- Goldman Sachs (GS), Morgan Stanley (MS), Bank of America (BAC), Citigroup (C), and JP Morgan (JPM). If you looked at these charts and didn't know what the overall stock market was doing, you would likely think that we'd be mired in a nasty bear market. But that obviously isn't the case. While the S&P 500 has struggled this month, it is still just a few percentage points off of its bull market high. Clearly the big financials have much less of an influence on the broad indices these days, and thankfully so given how terrible these stocks look.
