For traders with a more short-term time horizon, we have compiled a list of the S&P 1500 stocks trading above $10 that have the largest intraday high-low ranges (based on the average percent spread between the intraday high and low over the last 50 days). We then grouped the stocks based on whether they have a rising or falling 50-day moving average. Stocks highlighted in gray are new to the list this week.
Currently there are 45 stocks in the S&P 1500 trading above $10 per share that have averaged an intraday move of 4% or more over the last 50 trading days, and there are only six stocks in the index averaging a move of more than 5%. Technology is the most represented sector on the list with 14 stocks, followed by Energy with 12. While both of these sectors have the most members represented on the list, the title of most volatile stock in the S&P 1500 goes to Barnes & Noble (NYSE:BKS) which just recently received a takeover offer from John Malone for $17 per share in cash.
