Global Television, a division of CanWest Global Communications Corp. (CWG) which trades on the New York Stock Exchange, presented a TV show at 10am on a Saturday morning which featured a man holding a beer driving a boat which contained a cooler filled with beer cans.

The man used inappropriate language to tell the viewing children that they could live like him. The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council gave the station a formal reprimand. CWG was down 3 cents on Friday.

Interesting. I can't tell you how infuriating it is to see totally inappropriate programming on general cable tv scheduled for some reason for Saturday mornings rather than late Friday evenings, as though some stations have a deliberate policy of trying to draw the youngest viewers with titillating stuff. In the US VH1, MTV, FX, sci-fi, Lifestyle, and some other channels show movies and features with as much nudity and charged sexual content as they dare before 1pm. I don't favor censorship, but I think cable tv should adhere to the same principles as over-the-air broadcasting and honor the informal time boundaries for mature programming on non "pay-per-view&quo... channels.
