The Global Hunter Securities Conference is taking place in San Francisco between July 17 and 19, 2011. A number of high potential companies in the energy, mining and China growth sector will be making investor presentations. Of particular interest is that the attendance of this conference is geared towards institutional buyers like portfolio managers who frequently make large stock purchases.

Often companies use these events to announce goals, release new information, and highlight the investment potential of the stock. Stocks can move higher just before and after major new investor presentations as their story gets out to a new group of investors who find the potential compelling. Quite a few companies will be presenting, however, I have focused on a few of the ones that I am closely following due to their investment potential. In this link, you can see the entire list of companies scheduled to present along with exact times and dates. Here are the stocks and companies that will be presenting:

Warren Resources, Inc. (WRES) is trading around $3.99. Warren Resources is a producer of oil and natural gas. These shares have seen a trading range of $2.30 to $6.16 in the past 52 weeks. The 50 day moving average is $3.77 and the 200 day moving average is $4.37 and insiders have been buying. Tongxin International (OTCPK:TXIC) is trading for about $1.60 per share. This company manufactures vehicle body structures, and has corporate headquarters in Birmingham, Michigan, with manufacturing plants in China. These shares have seen a trading range of 94 cents to $4.85 in the past 52 weeks. The 50 day moving average is $1.18 and the 200 day moving average is $1.61. I recently wrote about Tongxin as being a cheap stock that the smart money has been buying. These shares could rebound to $8 to $10 in the next year or so, with the right moves from management. All the valuation metrics from earnings power of about $1 per share, book value over $6, and growth potential makes this stock a screaming buy in my opinion.
