How do I sign up to get stock email alerts?
Click on this link and follow the instructions.

Are Seeking Alpha's email alerts free?
Yes, with no teasers or strings attached.

Do you sell email addresses or share them with partners?
No, never.

Once I've signed up for Seeking Alpha email alerts, can I easily unsubscribe?
Yes, there's a link at the bottom of every email that allows you to quickly unsubscribe.

Can I receive just the email alerts that interest me?
Yes. You can sign up for email alerts by stock, sector or theme, and you'll only get what you requested. Go to the email preferences page, uncheck 'All Articles' and select the sectors and companies that interest you.

I signed up for email alerts, but I'm not getting them. Why?
To ensure that nobody receives emails who has not requested them, we send you a confirmation email when you sign up to which you must respond ("double opt-in"). If you can't find that email in your inbox, check your spam filter or trash. To ensure that Seeking Alpha email alerts are not caught in your spam filter in the future, add account@seekingalpha.com to your address book.

How can I increase the reliability of receiving Seeking Alpha email alerts?
Add account@seekingalpha.com to your address book. This tells your email program you "know" us and want our content to come through unfettered.

I followed the instructions above, but I still am not getting my email alerts. What should I do?
Check with your ISP (or work) Help Desk and request that they add us to their email "whitelist". That is a list of trusted senders who are not be blocked at a higher level than you control. When making this request make sure to let them know that you specifically requested email service from us and that we have pledged to never spam or buy/sell email addresses. Also, feel free to pass them our email address (Help[at]SeekingAlpha.com - replace [at] with @). We are always happy to answer any questions and assist with the process. If your service is still not restored - drop us a note with as many details as possible and we'll be happy to dig deeper.

I normally receive daily email alerts just fine. Why didn’t it arrive yesterday/today/recently?
Occasionally there are glitches in our system, or email delivery is affected by factors beyond our control. Please contact us if you do not receive email alerts for a few consecutive days and we will investigate.

How do I unsubscribe?
If you have any problems, just send an email (from the email account from which you subscribed) with the word "Unsubscribe" as the subject, to Help[at]SeekingAlpha.com (replace [at] with @).

Can I suspend emails while I'm on vacation?
We don't yet offer the ability to temporarily postpone delivery of email (we're working on it!). In the meantime, you can remove your email alerts entirely and set them up again when you return, using the email management page.

I've forgotten my username and/or password. What can I do?
How do I reset my password?
You can reset or create a new password by clicking on the ‘Forgot Your Password’ link on the login screen. You'll be asked to enter your email address (which is also your Seeking Alpha username), and we'll then send you an email containing instructions about completing the process.

How can I change my email address?
Just go to the account preferences page and click the change button by the email field. Then enter your new email address. You will then have to confirm your email address by clicking a link in an email we'll send you. This prevents people from maliciously signing others up for emails they do not want.

One of the headline links in my email alert is "dead". What happened?
The article was removed from Seeking Alpha after publication, probably because we discovered a problem with it. This occurs very rarely.

Why am I receiving mail from Seeking Alpha?
Our email alerts only go to those who have specifically requested them (in fact, we require "double opt in", ie. an initial request followed by confirmation of an email sent to you). If you have forgotten making that request, surf around the site a bit... a look at our email management page will probably jar your memory!

What happens to comments I send by replying to my email alerts?
Comments and questions sent by email are never posted on our site. To post comments to articles on the site, go to the article in question on the website and add your comment at the bottom of the page.

Can I leave a comment anonymously?
Yes. Just choose a Pseudonym (false name or pen name) when you enter your comment. You can also change your Name/Pseudonym in your account preferences page.

Why can't I read your articles on my handheld device?/The only text I see in my email is "ONLY HTML ENABLED CLIENT".
Many Seeking Alpha subscribers read our articles daily on their BlackBerry, Treo or other handheld device. The vast majority of these users have no trouble doing so; however some units require configuration changes or may not be able to receive our emails formatted as HTML. The best way to solve this problem is to check your instruction manual or contact your service provider for more details. Our emails are sent in HTML and plain text formats simultaneously as a multipart MIME email, suitable for most email clients.

Why do my email alerts sometimes arrive late – after the market opens?
The popularity of our email alerts service and load on our email servers means that on occasion, some subscribers receive emails in the afternoon or in extreme cases, the following day. Sometimes email delivery is affected by factors beyond our control. We are currently improving the infrastructure so that the email alerts will arrive in the morning, before the market opens.

How long will the articles be available online?
The links in your email alerts should work indefinitely. We only remove articles inform the site under exceptional circumstances.

I used to receive articles like ‘Wall Street Breakfast’ by email upon publication. Is it possible to re-subscribe? We are currently phasing out full-text emails, including the Wall Street Breakfast. In the near future we will be enhancing our infrastructure and then be able to send out Wall Street Breakfast and some other new email alerts. In the meantime, the best way to stay really updated is to get a live feed of articles as they are published.

Are your quotes real time or delayed?
20 minutes delayed. The exchanges charge a high fee for real time quotes.

Can't find an answer to your question here?
Have a look at the responses to the comments below. Someone else might have had the same exact query. If that does not help, please leave your own question as a comment below or contact us directly at Help[at]SeekingAlpha.com (replace [at] with @).

How do I stop receiving the "Pre-market Snapshot", I don't see an option/checkbox on the email alerts page?

    Jake,

The premarket snapshot is part of Wall Street Breakfast, becuase it includes summaries of breaking news stories. So if you want to unsubscribe, you need to unsubscribe from Wall Street Breakfast.

I can't read the emails you send. Windows xt, mozilla. No problem with other emails. The only way I get to you is clicking on the coffee cup icon on the morning update email. The rest of them are blank or have only a picture of one of your contributers. Any help would be apperciated.

    Hello:
I've been receiving email alerts for about a week and none of the links work! Headers only. In frustration I also tried the unsubscribe link and that led no where as well.
    Please advise.

The fact that the stories are no longer in the RSS feed is unfortunate because it's made your site significantly less usefull. I'm not about to have tons of email sent to me, and this is exactly what RSS was designed for. I guess I'll pick out the better contributors and just sign up for their direct RSS feeds.

In the name of being constructive, how about a middle ground, at least give the first paragraph or few lines of the post. I understand you want to draw people to the site, but subjects alone aren't enough to catch my interest in most posts.

You could always turn to the author sites. For example, at Stock Market Beat I am still publishing my own full feed. Quite frankly I find it annoying that SeekingAlpha is publishing their own feed of all my content rather than a link to my feed anyway.

I can see feeds for individual stocks that are aggregating several authors, but an author feed is going a bit too far when the author already has one.

    William,

This is a crucial issue -- we DON'T publicize feeds by authors, precisely because of the issue you raised: if a reader wants to read everything by that author, best to get it directly from the author. Our feeds offer things that authors can't provide: feeds by sectors and individual stocks, for example.

Not currently. We're working on a redesign of the home page that should significantly improve it's functionality, but right now the interface in the emails (particlularly "All articles, headlines only") is better than the website.

It would make your analysts' opinions more meaningful if we knew their qualifications for making their comments. If you don't want to present their bio data each time you publish their comments, then how about a list of the analysts you use with their biographical data that we can copy and retain for reference?

    Thanks,

    jjetherton,

There's a page for each author on Seeking Alpha containing biographical info, recent comments on their articles, and a list of all their articles. You can find it by clicking on the authors name at the bottom of articles where it says "Related: More articles by...", or by clicking on the authors name underneath the headline on the Seeking Alpha home page.

    Dajdaonkar,

Some web-based email services were delaying the delivery of our emails, but we hope that's now solved. Full article emails are sent about 20 minutes after the article publication, and the daily headlines-only email goes out at about 8 am every morning.

    imthewiz,

If you are not receiving email from us it is likely that the email was blocked as spam. Normally this can be remedied with two easy steps:

    1. Check your spam box to see if our messages are there. If any are, there is normally a "not spam" button that can be clicked to teach your email program that you really do want to see content from us.

    2. Add us (account@seekingalpha.... to your address book. This tells your email program "I know this person" making it more likely that it will let our emails through to you.

    ------

    3. If #1 and #2 above do not work - check with your ISP (or work) Help Desk and request that they add us to their email "whitelist". That is a list of trusted senders that will not be blocked at a higher level than you can control. When making this request make sure to let them know that you specifically requested email service from us and that we have pledged to never spam or buy/sell email addresses. Also, feel free to pass them our email address (contact-website@seeki... -- we are always happy to answer any questions and assist with the process.

Give those a try (and a little bit of time). If your service is not restored - drop us a note at contact-website@seekin... with as many details as possible and we'll be happy to dig deeper.

I live in Hawaii, where virtually everything is delayed. However, we are usually timely on emails. However, I typically receive your daily email late in the trading day. It would be useful to receive your excellent content before or, at least, early in the market sessions. Is this standard, or am I unique in this concern? What time do you normally broadcast your emails? If my later receipt is "standard timing," do you have a feed of any kind, that I can subscribe to, that precceds the market open?

P.S. I *DID* just add "Wall Street Breakfast" to my subscription list, which I learned of from an answer to a previous email. Thanks & ALOHA!

    Hi Stan,

We try to transmit our morning (daily summary) emails at a time that will make sure you don't miss out on some of our popular morning content (like the Wall Street Breakfast) while also getting to you at a time that allows you to really *use* it!

From what you describe in your comment, I suspect that there may be some sort of disconnect in our transmissions to you -- all of our daily summary emails are transmitted much earlier than it sounds like you're receiving. I'll contact you outside this thread about the emails so that we can troubleshoot without crowding things up more here.

As for your question regarding feeds: Yes, we do offer them and (as you've hinted) they do provide the quickest way to get updates. A list of our most popular feeds is available here.

If others are not familiar with rss feeds we have a very brief explanation of them on the bottom of this page. If you need more info, post a reply to this comment :)

    Hi bcarter,

We currently don't offer the ability to customize the delivery time of your morning mail... As you elude to above, we try to balance waiting for important content vs. getting emails out early - our formula works better for some people (and some news days) than for others.

We're always looking for feedback for ways to improve though and we'll look into the possibility of allowing this type of 'send time' customization.

One other option here is to subscribe to our content via an RSS feed. RSS is something that more and more people are being introduced to each day and is a really great way to get information from both Seeking Alpha and others (financial news and much more). There are many great (free) ways to utilize RSS - I recommend checking this page for MyYahoo: click hereand then checking out our signup page here. As with anything regarding our site - we're always available for more help at contact-website@seekin...

    Thanks!

    Hi Abhay,

The full-content versions of our email alerts are only available in HTML format. If you don't want to (or can't) accept HTML formatted messages - you will receive a plain text message from us containing a link to our article online.

You might also consider monitoring our site with a feed reader (mentioned in my response to the previous question). If you are interested - our feeds are available here.

The timing of the E Mails should not be determined by "waiting for important content" and "getting e mails out early" E Mails should be turned around as news is received by Seeking Alpha. What may appear as important content is a matter of perspective or as being early is objective and is not possible from where you stand. This is a common problem with all financial e mail elerts. Case in point, China ADR's, whereby the Chinese made a major announcement effecting such, inturn the stocks went up by dollar amounts and wasn't reported by e mail alert (not by Alpha) until the market closed the same day. To late to be of any use, if I had known a lot of money could have been made. I'm sure the powers that be knew of it in time to make a few bucks. The little guy with no real connections loses out again. Hope Alpha gets better response time, the Pony Express is history, if Alpha doesn't get it right, so too will they.

    Thomas,

We send out email in two ways: immediately on delivery, or a once-daily alert before the market opens. We certainly don't make decisions about timing based on the perceived importance of the content!

    Hi SeekingAlpha,

I subscribe to the Wall Street Breakfast email. I used to get this email at breakfast time. In the last three or so days, I receive it late in the afternoon--always after the markets are closed.

For example, today (Thursday, Aug 30), in the late afternoon (6:10 pm Pacific time), I received the Wall Street Breakfast summary of Wednesday, Aug 29, by email. It should have arrived this morning. The info is now stale.

It used to arrive in the morning...

    Thank you,

Since your site re-design, first, I lost my email alerts entirely, and now, I get both timely alerts, plus a once-a-day email, with a ton of articles, but at the end of the day, or, this morning, at the beginning of the next day, when the articles are a day old, and do me no good. I don't want once-a-day mode, and I did not have that mode selected before the site re-design.

ON your email alerts sign up page, you mention the once-a-day mode, and you say "below," but there is nothing and nowhere to click below that would let one change the mode selection. Please fix this so that I can put myself back on alerts as they happen.

Love your service, didn't think it needed re-design, wish things were back to normal.

    THanks
