HP showed 21.1% growth in the fourth quarter in terms of units, while Dell shrank 8.6%. Acer grew 42.7%. For the full year, Dell had 16.3% share, just ahead of HP at 16%; but while HP grew 19% in units for the full year, Dell gained just 4.4%. Again, Acer outpaced both, growing 36.9%.
In announcing the data, iSuppli said that HP is likely to make further market share gains with Dell continuing to go through a period of management and strategy changes.
HP yesterday was up $1 at $39.75. Dell was up 3 cents at $22.56.
