Jim Cramer is the host of CNBC's "Mad Money" show and the chairman of TheStreet.com. In 1987, Cramer started his own hedge fund and returned an average of 24% per year between 1987 and 2001. Cramer also authored six money management books.

In a recent article we stated that since the beginning of this year, the average return of these 20 high dividend-yielding S&P 500 stocks was 6.09%, beating the SPY by 2.33%. The second group of 20 stocks with lower dividend yields returned 3.29% on average, underperforming both the stocks in the first group and the SPY.

We compiled the list of high dividend paying stocks that have been recommended on "Mad Money" during the last 30 days. These 21 stocks returned 14.4% (including dividends) during the past 12 months. (The market data is sourced from Finviz)

Annaly Capital is the highest dividend paying stock among the Cramer’s favorites. Annaly Capital is a real estate investment trust. NLY recently traded at $18.1 and has a 14.2% dividend yield. NLY gained 20.4% during the past 12 months. The stock has a market cap of $11.4 billion and P/E ratio of 6.4. Charles Clough’s Clough Capital Partners had $29 million invested in NLY shares. Anworth Mortgage Asset recently traded at $7.01 and has a 13.74% dividend yield. Cramer repeated his buy recommendation of ANH once during the last month. ANH gained 19.34% during the past 12 months. The stock has a market cap of $926 million and P/E ratio of 8.27.

Alaska Communications recently traded at $7.06 and has an 11.86% dividend yield. Cramer repeated his buy recommendation of ALSK once during the last month. Cramer said Alaska Communication is better than Frontier Communications (NASDAQ:FTR) and Century Link (NYSE:CTL). With double digit yields (over 12%), Cramer thinks this stock is being given away. ALSK lost 14.4% during the past 12 months. The stock has a market cap of $0.3 billion.

Windstream recently traded at $11.74 and has an 8.26% dividend yield. Cramer repeated his buy recommendation of WIN twice during the last month. WIN gained 14.57% during the past 12 months. The stock has a market cap of $6.2 billion and P/E ratio of 22.02. While Windstream’s competitors Frontier Communications and Century Link have had their fair share of issues, Cramer said that the chairman bought $111,000 worth of stock. He’s confident he wouldn’t have done so if WIN was going the way of its competitors.

Energy Transfer Partners: Cramer repeated his buy recommendation of ETP twice during the last month. ETP recently traded at $44.01 and has a 7.96% dividend yield. ETP gained 2.07% during the past 12 months. The stock has a market cap of $9.4 billion and P/E ratio of 28.09. In the past 5 years, ETP increased its dividend payments by 6.99% annually.
