Some would have you believe that finding growth in this market right now with so much global turmoil is an impossible task. That you would have to overturn every rock and then wish on a falling star to find just a few names. Well, investors should save their falling star moments for better wishes.
One way to indentify firms that are potentially experiencing real growth is by reviewing their 1-Year Fiscal Growth Rate. This growth rate covers multiple periods and helps average out any potentially “hot” quarters. While this metric won’t guarantee future growth for a firm, it will point out which firms are experiencing strong growth despite global economic turmoil.
We ran a screen for firms that have retraced at least 10% from their 52-week high and illustrate strong top line growth (1-Year Fiscal Revenue Growth Rate>20%). From this narrowed pool we then screened for firms that were flush with cash (Current Ratio>3).
