Here are the top 10 beverage stocks held by hedge fund managers:

Coca-Cola Co. owns or license over 500 non-alcoholic beverages as well as various fountain syrups throughout global markets. While the S&P 500 lost 5.3% for the current year, Coca-Cola Co. gained 7.6%. Coca-Cola Co. was held by the most hedge funds – 41 – in the second quarter. Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway fund has remained unchanged in its position with 200 million shares.

Pepsico is a global food, snack and beverage company. The company lost 0.9% in the year to date, less than the SPY. Pepsico was held by 38 portfolios in the second quarter. Eagle Capital Management, which is managed by Boykin Curry, increased its position by 13% last quarter to approximately 4.2 million shares.

Coca-Cola Enterprises, following its merger and split with The Coca-Cola Company last October, markets, produces and distributes nonalcoholic beverages throughout Europe. Coca-Cola Enterprises exceeded the SPY by increasing 8.5% over the market. Last quarter, the company was held by 26 portfolios. Alan Fournier of Pennant Capital Management increased his position by 3% to approximately 4.8 million shares.

Hansen Natural Corporation is a holding company which develops, markets, sells, and distributes alternative beverages. Hansen exceeded the S&P by 65.3% for the current year. The company was held by 21 portfolios in the second quarter. John Lykouretzos' Hoplite Capital Management increased its position by 57% in the last quarter to nearly 1.5 million shares.

Cott Corporation is a retailer brand beverage company. The company shed 13.5% for the current year. Cott was held by 21 portfolios in the second quarter. Reid Walker's WS Capital increased its position by 189 percent in the last quarter to 4 million shares.

Molson Coors Brewing Company is a holding company. Molson lost 13.2% this year. In the second quarter, the company was in 20 portfolios. Deccan Value Advisors managed by Vinit Bodas decreased its position 34% to 291,350 shares.

Anheuser-Busch InBev SA is a brewing company, which produces, markets, distributes and sells approximately 200 beer brands. The company lost ground for the year to date at 3%, less than the S&P 500. Anheuser-Busch was held by 18 portfolios in the last quarter. Tom Russo of Gardner Russo & Gardner increased his position by 11% to approximately 2.9 million shares.

Brown-Forman Corporation manufactures, bottles, imports, exports, and markets a variety of alcoholic beverage brands. The company shed 1.3% in the year to date, less than the S&P 500. Brown-Forman was held by 16 portfolios last quarter. Gardner Russo & Gardner increased its position by 4% to approximately 1.7 million shares.

Constellation Brands, Inc. is a wine company operating predominantly in the United States, Canada, and New Zealand. In the current year, the company has more than doubled the loss of the S&P 500 at 13.6%. Constellation was held in 16 portfolios in the second quarter. Neil Chris' Hutchin Hill Capital acquired 179,100 shares last quarter, a new position for the fund.

Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. is the brand owner, manufacturer and distributor of a varied portfolio of non-alcoholic beverages in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The company gained 8.9% in the current year, beating the S&P 500 by a large margin. Dr Pepper Snapple Group was held by 15 portfolios last quarter. Navellier & Associates managed by Louis Navellier decreased its position by 4% to nearly 1.2 million shares.

As a group, top beverage stocks performed better than the S&P by gaining an average of 3.95% for the current year.
