A major market correction has pushed many stocks to 52 week lows, and many insiders are taking advantage of this opportunity. The amount of insider buying has surged in the last couple of weeks. When you see insider buying at depressed prices, it often means the shares are oversold and offer great long term value. I have provided links for each stock which verifies the insider buying filed with the SEC below. Here are the stocks:
Ford Motor Co. (F) shares are trading at $10.05. The 50-day moving average is about $11.80 and the 200-day moving average is about $14.59, so these shares are trading well below support levels. Ford shares hit a 52 week high of $18.97 earlier this year, and have dropped on fears of a new recession. Earnings estimates for F are $1.96 per share in 2011 and $1.82 for 2012, which puts the PE ratio at about 5. Chairman William Ford and a director recently bought 25,000 each. Blue Nile, Inc. (NILE) shares are trading at $34.97. Blue Nile is an online retailer of jewelry. The shares have traded in a range between $40.70 to $64.45 in the past 52 weeks. The 50-day moving average is $39.18 and the 200-day moving average is $49.88. Earnings estimates for NILE are 98 cents per share in 2011, and $1.15 for 2012. The CEO recently bought 10,000 shares. Carter's, Inc., (CRI) is trading around $30.25. CRI manufactures apparel and is based in Georgia. The 50-day moving average is $31.01 and the 200-day moving average is $29.94. These shares have traded in a range between $23.14 to $34.50 in the last 52 weeks. CRI is estimated to earn about $1.79 per share in 2011 and $2.23 in 2012. THQ Inc., (THQI) shares are trading at $1.74. THQI is a leading video game company. The 50-day moving average is about $2.51 and the 200-day moving average is about $4.36. Earnings estimates for THQI are for a loss of 19 cents per share in 2011 and profit of about 26 cents for 2012. THQI stock has a book value of $3.67 per share. The CEO recently bought 25,000 shares. Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (LGND), is trading around $15.17. Ligand is a biotechnology company based in California. These shares have traded in a range between $8.14 to $16.24 in the last 52 weeks. The 50-day moving average is $12.61 and the 200-day moving average is $10.50. LGND is estimated to earn about 50 cents per share in 2011. One director recently reported buying about 10,000 shares.
