With the market declines we have been seeing for the past several weeks, many stocks are trading well off their recent highs. It's promising to see insiders taking advantage of this recent drop by purchasing shares in some of the names below.

Insider buying can be a great sign that a stock is a real value or that it is going higher in the near future. Insiders tend to know their companies better than outsiders or analysts, so when they put their own money in share purchases, it can be very meaningful. I have provided links for each stock which verify the insider buying filed with the SEC. Here are the stocks:

Kronos Worldwide (NYSE:KRO) shares are trading at $23.05. Kronos is a leading maker of specialty chemicals and is based in Texas. These shares have traded in a range between $14.16 to $34.50 in the last 52 weeks. The 50-day moving average is $21.01 and the 200-day moving average is $25.22. Earnings estimates indicate a profit of $2.82 per share for 2011 and $3.44 for 2012. KRO pays a dividend of 60 cents per share which is equivalent to a 2.6% yield. Philip Morris (NYSE:PM) is trading around $72.12. Philip Morris is a producer of tobacco products. These shares have seen a trading range of $55.85 to $72.74 in the past 52 weeks. The 50-day moving average is $66.86 and the 200-day moving average is $64.89. Earnings estimates indicate a profit of $4.82 per share for 2011 and $5.18 for 2012. PM pays a dividend of $3.08 per share which is equivalent to a 4.5% yield. A director recently bought 2,200 shares. You can see the insider buys here.

Huntington Bancshares (NASDAQ:HBAN), is trading around $5.47. Huntington is a regional bank based in Ohio. These shares have traded in a range between $4.46 to $7.70 in the last 52 weeks. The 50-day moving average is $4.94 and the 200-day moving average is $6.08. HBAN is estimated to earn about 60 cents per share in 2011, and 61 cents for 2012. The financial crisis hit most banks very hard, but results at Huntington are showing that this bank is poised to benefit as the economy recovers. Piper Jaffray (NYSE:PJC) is trading at about $21.95. Piper provides investment banking services and is based in Minnesota. These shares have a 52-week range of $16.72 and $44.56. The 50-day moving average is $20.22 and the 200-day moving average is $31.07. PJC is estimated to earn about $1.28 per share in 2011, and $2.22 in 2012. Book value is stated at $53.07 per share. This stock was trading around $30 in July and is trading way below book value. The CEO recently bought 5,000 shares; see that here.

Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE:FSL) is trading around $13.70. Freescale makes semiconductors for automotive, networking, and other industries. These shares have traded in a range between $9.43 to $20.97 in the last 52 weeks. The 50-day moving average is $11.87. FSL is estimated to earn about 90 cents per share in 2011, and 93 cents in 2012. This stock was trading around $19 earlier this year and it looks like some investors are bargain hunting now at much lower levels. The CEO recently bought 40,000 shares. ViroPharma Inc. (VPHM) shares are trading for $20.60. ViroPharma is a biotechnology company based in Pennsylvania. The 50-day moving average is $18.79 and the 200-day moving average is $18.47. The 52-week range for these shares is $14.62 to $22.16. VPHM is estimated to earn about $1.24 per share in 2011 and 61 cents in 2012. This company pays a dividend of 60 cents which yields 2.5%.
