The article, “Consumer Discretionary Stocks To Watch For Year-End Window Dressing,” mentions several stocks to keep an eye on as we head into year-end window dressing. The follow up articles, “12 Stocks To Watch For Year-End Window Dressing,” and “18 Materials, Health Care and Utilities Stocks To Watch For Window Dressing,” reviewed the year-to-date performance of six other sectors and listed stocks with year-end window dressing potential. This final installment in the four-part series will look at the Industrials, Information Technology, and Telecommunication Services sectors, including equities that might be subject to year-end institutional window-dressing.

Industrials’ year-to-date return is negative 3.8%. This sector has 18 subgroups, four of which are up on the year, and 14 of which are down. The best performer is Trading Companies & Distributors, up 37.3%. This subgroup comprises only 1.94% of the sector’s total weighting. Together, all four subgroups up on the year comprise 35.49% of the sector’s total weighting. The three worst performers are Airlines (-35.4%), Office Services & Supplies (-30.2%), and Building Products (-24.3%). Together, these three subgroups comprise just 1.37% of the sector’s total weighting. The two single largest sector components are Aerospace & Defense at 24.55%, up 1.8% year-to-date, and Industrial Conglomerates at 22.68%, down 8.9% year-to-date.

Information Technology’s year-to-date return is 2.3%. This sector has 15 subgroups, five of which are up on the year, and ten of which are down. The two best performers are Home Entertainment Software (41.6%) and IT Consulting & Other Services (21.6%). Together, all five subgroups up on the year comprise 51.96% of the sector’s total weighting. Among the ten subgroups down on the year, the three worst performers are Office Electronics (-29.3%), Electronic Components (-27.3%), and Semiconductor Equipment (-14.3%). Together, these three subgroups comprise just 3.08% of the sector’s total weighting.

Telecommunication Services’ year-to-date return is negative 2.8%. This sector only has two subgroups, both of which are down on the year. Integrated Telecommunication Services, with a 90.24% sector weighting, is down 2.2% year-to-date, while Wireless Telecommunication Services, with a 9.76% sector weighting, is down 7.8% year-to-date.

Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) is down 32.78% YTD and has a market cap. of $7.17 billion.

Ingersoll-Rand (NYSE:IR) is down 28.50% YTD and has a market cap. of $10.51 billion.

Information Technology

Electronic Arts (ERTS) is up 41.33% YTD and has a market cap. of $7.67 billion.

Fortinet (NASDAQ:FTNT) is up 34.17% YTD and has a market cap. of $3.78 billion.

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is up 21.20% YTD and has a market cap. of $363.37 billion.

Research in Motion (RIMM) is down 70.70% YTD and has a market cap. of $8.93 billion.

First Solar (NASDAQ:FSLR) is down 64.57% YTD and has a market cap. of $3.99 billion.

Cree (NASDAQ:CREE) is down 61.03% YTD and has a market cap. of $2.98 billion.

Telecommunication Services

Level 3 Communications (NYSE:LVLT) is up 37.01% YTD and has a market cap. of $4.18 billion.

TELUS Corp. (NYSE:TU) is up 19.54% YTD and has a market cap. of $16.9 billion.

American Tower (NYSE:AMT) is up 14.72% YTD and has a market cap. of $23.28 billion.
