VeriFone Systems, Inc. (NYSE:PAY) is anticipated to report earnings after the closing bell on December 14, 2011. PAY trades an average of 1.6 million shares per day.

52 Week High: $58.88

52 Week Low: $30.25

Book Value: $4.63

Float Short: 5.10%

Analysts are expecting an improvement of $0.02 in earnings per share compared to last quarter's results of $0.49. Investors will be looking to see a number north of $0.51 per share, based on the earnings estimates.

Like so many stocks, VeriFone's shareholders have watched the stock move around from the top to the bottom, and it now appears to be climbing back up again. The share price opened up today near the 200 day moving average, but ended up below with today's 2% drop in share price. With the shorter moving averages moving higher, another breach above the 200 day moving average will more likely than not hold. The next area of support is right around the $40 price point.

For the same fiscal period year-over-year, revenue has improved to $1.00 billion for 2010 vs. $844.71 million for 2009. The bottom line has rising earnings year-over-year of $98.83 million for 2010 vs. $-157.46 million for 2009. The company's earnings before interest and taxes are rising, with an EBIT year-over-year of $102.42 million for 2010 vs. $-128.97 million for 2009.

I use a proprietary blend of technical analysis, financial crowd behavior, and fundamentals in my short-term trades, and while not totally the same in longer swing trades to investments, the concepts used are similar. You may want to use this article as a starting point of your own research with your financial planner. I use Seeking Alpha, Edgar Online, and Yahoo Finance for most of my data. I use the "confirmed" symbols from earnings.com that I believe to be of the most interest.
