There is a lot to like about Red Hat. The chart looks good, with the major daily moving averages moving higher. Cloud computing is hot and appears it will stay hot for a long time. Red Hat offers Linux and services and enjoys high barriers to entry at the enterprise level. While I am more bullish on Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) as an investment due to the over 3% dividend Microsoft pays, Red Hat is a very stable company in a not-so-stable market.
Revenue year-over-year has increased to $909.28 million for 2011 vs. $748.24 million for 2010. The bottom line has rising earnings year-over-year of $107.28 million for 2011 vs. $87.25 million for 2010.The company's earnings before interest and taxes are rising with an EBIT year-over-year of $145.68 million for 2011 vs. $100.35 million for 2010. Rising revenue along with rising earnings is a very good sign and what we want to see with our companies. Be sure to check the margins to make sure that the bottom line is keeping up with the top line.
