Using our Interactive Earnings Report Database, we recently screened the S&P 500 for the stocks that have consistently posted gains on their report days since the bull market began in March 2009. Below is a list of the S&P 500 stocks set to report earnings between now and February 23rd that have gone up on more than 70% of their report days. (For companies that report after the close, we use the next day's change.) Only stocks that have at least 10 quarterly earnings reports since March 2009 are included.
As shown, Lincoln National (LNC) has been the most consistent winner in the S&P 500, gaining on 10 of 11 earnings report days (90.9%) during the current bull market. LNC is set to report on February 7th. There are seven S&P 500 stocks that have posted gains on 9 of their last 11 earnings report days. These seven stocks are TEL, CTXS, ROP, GR, APC, DVN and PCLN. Priceline.com is the most well known and widely traded of these stocks, and PCLN is set to report on 2/23. Other notables on the list of S&P 500 earnings report day winners include CAT at 80% and AAPL, SBUX, BIIB, CMI, ESRX and CBS at 72.7%.
