Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) is anticipated to report earnings before the opening bell on January 19, 2012.

Morgan Stanley, a financial holding company, provides various financial products and services to corporations, governments, financial institutions, and individuals worldwide. The company was founded in 1935 and is headquartered in New York. MS trades an average of 22.4 million shares per day.

52 Week High: $31.04
52 Week Low: $11.58
Book Value: $32.08
Float Short: 1.05%

On average, 18 analysts are expecting a drop of $-1.72 in earnings per share compared to last quarter's results of $1.14. A beat of $-0.58 per share will top the estimated mean earnings.Analyst estimates range between $-0.81 and $-0.34 per share.

Relative to the earnings, investors have not been as aggressive accumulating shares, as the current trailing twelve months P/E ratio is 10.1, while the forward P/E ratio is now 8.26. It appears based on the lower PE that investors are pricing in less growth.

The bottom line has rising earnings year-over-year of $4.70 billion for 2010 vs. $1.35 billion for 2009. The stock is currently right in the middle of a trading range with very little edge going long or short. The multiple is very low, but I would buy under $13 with the current conditions and perhaps execute a covered call write strategy depending on premiums.

52 Week High: $14.95
52 Week Low: $4.92
Book Value: $22.72
Float Short: 1.56%

On average, 20 analysts are expecting a drop of $-0.10 in earnings per share compared to last quarter's results of $0.31. A beat of $0.21 per share, will top the estimated mean earnings.Analyst estimates range between $-0.05 and $0.48 per share.

BAC has turned into a major trading vehicle for traders and rebate collectors. As a result, investors need to be aware of games that may be played by big money. Expect down moves and shakeouts in an attempt to stop you out. Citi (NYSE:C) used to be a large trading stock like BAC is now, but the reverse one for 10 stock split didn't do investors any favors. While BAC is clearly well below the 200-day moving average, the shorter time frame moving averages are demonstrating price support moving forward. BAC may be a good long-term hold with a very small position that won't keep you up at night it if gets slammed down again.

The bottom line has falling earnings year-over-year of $-2.24 billion for 2010 vs. $6.28 billion for 2009.

Huntington Bancshares Incorporated operates as the holding company for The Huntington National Bank that provides commercial and consumer banking services. The company was founded in 1866 and is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. HBAN trades an average of 12.3 million shares per day.

52 Week High: $7.70
52 Week Low: $4.46
Book Value: $6.25
Float Short: 1.33%

On average, 21 analysts are expecting a drop of $-0.02 in earnings per share compared to last quarter's results of $0.16. The estimated mean earnings are $0.14 per share. Analyst estimates range between $0.12 and $0.16 per share.

The P/E ratio has been recently discounted, as the current trailing twelve months P/E ratio is 11.9, while the forward P/E ratio is now 9.85. It appears based on the lower PE that investors are pricing in less growth. Of the three in this article Huntington is the best oppertunity in my opinion. The stock has recently moved beyond the 200 day moving average and displaying a lot of price strength. For me, I would wait for a pullback under $6, but it very well may not happen.

The bottom line has rising earnings year-over-year of $312.35 million for 2010 vs. $-3.09 billion for 2009.

I use a proprietary blend of technical analysis, financial crowd behavior, and fundamentals in my short-term trades, and while not totally the same in longer swing trades to investments, the concepts used are similar. You may want to use this article as a starting point of your own research with your financial planner. I use Seeking Alpha, Edgar Online, and Yahoo Finance for most of my data. I use the confirmed symbols from earnings.com that I believe to be of the most interest.
