The Stalwart submits: Vonage (VG) and Clearwire (CLWR). Clearwire and Vonage. Vonage and Clearwire. The names of the two companies, both of which are recent IPOs, have become linked in the eyes many. Not only are they both recent IPOs, but both of them have been disasters as public companies -- Vonage much more so, as investors have legitimate questions about its viability is a going concern.

It seems possible that investors attitude towards Vonage is spilling over to Clearwire. In other words, if you've been burned on one "next hot telecom play", you might be hesitant about getting involved with another.

That's a tempting thought, and maybe one that's worth exploring a little bit. But there seems to some pretty legitimate reasons for being concerned about Clearwire. So for now, it's probably best to relegate the the Vonage discount idea as an interesting theory, but that's possibly hard to justify.
