Australian Stock Market Sets Record for Second Day Running

Tuesday September 27, 4:58 am ET, SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- The Australian stock market rose to a record high for the second straight day Tuesday, lifted by strong demand for resources and banking shares. The country's benchmark S&P/ASX200 index rose 10.3 points, or 0.2 percent, to end at 4,629.2, up from Monday's closing record of 4,618.9. The All Ordinaries index also surged 11.4 points to close at 4576.7, passing Monday's record of 4565.3. "The commodity boom continues," Aequs Securities institutional dealer Ric Klusman said.
