The Nikkei is up 181.67 points or 1.36% for the final week of September, wrapping up a month in which the index gained an impressive1067.33 points (8.53%). Year-to-date the Nikkei is up 2056.55 points for a percent gain of 17.86%. The Nikkei consists of 225 stocks and is often referred to as the Japanese Dow, of which it is modeled after. Some of the biggest movers on the final day of trading this month in Japan are listed below. Note that these stocks also trade in the U.S. as ADRs and I have included the ADR tickers, however the percent gain/losses listed are for the Japanese traded stocks on Sept. 30th.
