Buffalo Wild Wings (NASDAQ:BWLD) is due with its Q4 earnings results in tonight's after hours session. The mean analyst estimate in a Thomson Reuters survey looks for EPS of $0.67 on $210 million in revenue.

In the last six years, BWLD has shown a tendency to widen its after hours move the next day following an evening earnings event. It has done so 14 times in 24 quarters.

Looking deeper into the data, bulls take note: The stock has recorded post-earnings gains in 13 quarters, widening that move 10 times, or 77% of the time.

Wider next-day moves have followed evening declines five times in 11 quarters, or 45% of the time.

  • On Oct. 19, 2011, BWLD advanced 5.2% in evening trading on the back of better-than-expected Q3 results. The stock firmed higher the next day, gaining 7.1% by the close on Oct. 20.
  • On July 26, 2011, BWLD declined 1.9% in after-hours trading after coming in shy of earnings estimates and beating with sales. The stock cut its downside the next day, ending the July 27 regular session off 0.6%.
  • On April 26, 2011, BWLD firmed 4.7% in after-hours trading on better-than-expected Q1 results. The stock lost its upside the following day, closing the April 27 regular session down 1%.
  • On Feb. 8, 2011, BWLD advanced 3.8% in night trading after topping Q4 expectations. The stock leaped higher the following day, closing the Feb. 9 regular session up 12.8%.
  • On Oct. 26, 2010, BWLD declined 6.2% in evening trading after beating Q3 expectations and guiding for flat same-store sales. The stock cut its downside the following day, closing the Oct. 27 regular session down 3.5%.
  • In July 27, 2010, the stock gained 7.7% after the company beat with Q2 results. Shares rose a tamer 2.2% the next day.
  • On April 27, 2010, BWLD tumbled 21.2% in evening trading after reporting disappointing Q1 results. The stock cut its downside the following day, ending the April 28 regular session down 17%.
  • On Feb. 11, 2010, BWLD tumbled 13.3% in after-hours trading after missing Q4 expectations. It narrowed its downside a bit the following day, ending the Feb. 12 regular session off 11.2%.
  • On Oct. 27, 2009, BWLD shed 3.9% in evening action after missing Q3 revenue expectations and meeting on earnings. The stock saw it downside cut back the following day, closing the Oct. 28 regular session down 1.8%.
  • On July 27, 2009, the stock gained 1.9% after BWLD reported ahead of the Street with Q2 results. Shares gained a stronger 5.9% the next day.
  • On April 28, 2009, the stock tumbled 9.8% during evening trading after the company narrowly beat with EPS and reaffirmed its growth expectations. The loss was trimmed to 5.5% the next day.
  • On Feb. 11, 2009, the stock was up 18.9% after a Q4 beat. Shares jumped 34.2% the next day.
  • On Oct. 27, 2008, the stock tumbled 10.1% during evening trading after EPS improved from the year-ago quarter though missed the Street view, revenue beat. The loss increased to 13.9% by the final bell the next day.
  • On July 29, 2008, BWLD advanced 12.8% in evening trading after handily beating Street estimates for its Q2. The stock saw its gain scale back the following day, ending the July 30 regular session up 7.5%.
  • On April 29, 2008, the stock gained 12% during evening trading after the company reported results well ahead of the year-ago period. The gain increased to 18.8% the next day.
  • On Feb. 12, 2008, BWLD jumped 10.8% in after-hours trading after beating Q4 earnings expectations and issuing largely upbeat guidance for 2008. The stock firmed higher the following day, gaining 12.1% by the Feb. 13 closing bell.
  • On Oct. 30, 2007, BWLD tumbled 13.1% in evening trading after reporting Q3 earnings shy of expectations. It continued heading lower into the Oct. 31 regular session, losing 21.2% by the closing bell.
  • On July 31, 2007, BWLD slid 11.5% in night trading after missing Q2 sales estimates and meeting on EPS. Shares fell further the next day, ending down 16.9% in the regular session.
  • On May 1, 2007, BWLD gained 5.3% in after hours when the company beat Q1 expectations. Shares soared the following day, closing the regular session up 14.4%.
  • On Feb. 15, 2007, BWLD rallied 8.9% in night trading after topping Q4 sales estimates. Shares rose a bit further the next day, ending the regular session up 9.6%.
  • On Oct. 24, 2006, the stock jumped 11.3% in the evening session courtesy of Street-beating earnings results. The gain swelled to 19.1% the next day.
  • On July 25, 2006, BWLD dropped 3.8% in night trading despite improved Q2 results from a year ago and a forecast for higher Q3 sales. Shares tumbled further the next day, closing the regular session down 11.3%.
  • On April 25, 2006, BWLD eased 1.5% despite beating Q1 estimates and predicting Q2 sales to be in line to above forecasts. Shares recovered slightly, ending the next day session down 1.2%.
  • On February 7, 2006, BWLD jumped 5.1% after matching Q4 sales estimates and forecasting for Q1 sales to be above expectations. The shares climbed higher the next day, ending the regular session up 9.3%.
