There has been a fair amount of pontificating today about Eddie Lampert's purchase of Citigroup (NYSE:C) stock. I've been critical of Lampert with Sears (NASDAQ:SHLD). This, however, is a brilliant move and strikes to the heart of my argument on Citigroup:
No matter what happens with CEO Chuck Prince -- whether he does or doesn't make the right moves -- investors are more likely than not to win by default. (For more on my views of this, check out this post from several weeks ago)
Too many vested parties for any other outcome. This isn't a recommendation to buy, sell or ignore. Oh, and I don't own Citigroup stock. It's merely a yet another opinionated view from the press box, for what it's worth.
