In a conference call following Motorola's release of impressive 3Q05 results, Motorola CEO Ed Zander commented on the company's handset pipeline:

many of you ask me what is after RAZR? And the answer is more RAZR. We're just getting started. It is the best-selling clamshell in the world. Units to RAZR doubled again. We sold more than 6.5 million in the quarter alone… [2004] was around .75 million… Keep in mind when people refer to RAZR this is a family of products. You're going to see RAZR for many years to come. And as we just showed you, GSM Black and the CDMA version. And next we are going to do more color.

On rumors of component shortages, and room for corporate improvement:

We don't see any component shortages. There's all of the stuff in the press that I have seen. And in fact I just checked with Stu [Reed - Sr. VP] before the call to make sure… And he hasn't seen anything from the suppliers at this point in time…We do have manufacturing around the world that we still have to rationalize. There are certain things in the wrong places…The second area we're working on is supplier, both on supplier procurement when it comes to cost, but equally if not more important, on quality.
