Prudential (PRU), Ameritrade (AMTD), E*Trade (ETFC): While he likes AMTD's CEO Joe Moglia, he would sell the stock, which has risen 30%, because Moglia "can't do much more to bring out value here." The same applies to ETFC, and he said he might consider buying back either one when they drop. He is bullish on PRU and commented the company's decision to wind down Prudential Equity group demonstrates PRU is willing to take "brutal action" on behalf of its shareholders.

SPX (SPW): Cramer says CEO Chris Kearney is "hitting on all cylinders" and is committed to its shareholders. He added, "that has been a stock that, had you bought it on all these down days, you have made a fortune."

Verizon (VZ), Johnson Controls (JCI), Cigna (CI): The huge decline in the Dow on Wednesday provides an opportunity to pick up defensive plays VZ, JCI and CI.
