Marvell Favors Reversing Earnings-Driven After-Hours Direction In Next-Day Trade

Marvell Technology Group (NASDAQ:MRVL) is due with its Q4 results after the bell tonight, and analysts polled by Thomson Reuters are expecting the company to report earnings of $0.17 per share on revenue of $740 million.

MRVL has reversed direction between the sessions following earnings-driven after-hours moves in 18 of the last 30 quarters we've tracked.

Looking deeper into the data, the stock has followed earnings news with gains in 19 quarters, expanding that move just eight times, however.

When shares decline in response to earnings, which has happened 11 times, more aggressive next-day moves took place five times, or less than 50% of the time.
