Hickey and Walters (Bespoke) submit: A recent article in the June 9th edition of The Economist, titled "Checking the Engine," highlighted the first quarter year over year percent change in home prices of 20 countries.
As shown below, the U.S. and Japan were the only countries that had a decline, while South Africa, Singapore, Denmark, New Zealand and Britain all posted double digit increases. The chart and table highlight that home prices across the globe, while slightly weaker than the prior year, remain fairly strong compared to the slumping U.S. market.
