Infosys (INFY) , Wipro (WIT), Cognizant (CTSH) and Satyam (SAY) comprise the elite pool of tier-1 pure IT outsourcing companies whose stocks are traded in the USA. TCS and HCL are other IT outsourcing companies whose stock is only traded in the Indian stock market.
Infy, Wipro and Cognizant have carved their own place in common investor’s mindset. INFY is famous for creating a high value brand in IT outsourcing, Wipro is famous for having the single largest shareholder (Azim Premji its present CEO holding nearly 81% of the stock) and Cognizant is famous for being the latest entrant in tier-1 group and providing the maximum five year return amongst all the tier-1 companies (nearly 1000%).
But Satyam always had to be content in the shadows of its peers. Little is written about its founders (the Raju brothers) who founded the company in 1987. But looking at the recent stock market return amongst tier-1 companies , it is Satyam that has given the maximum return. Compare the following tables.
