Exchange traded fund [ETF] investors cheered from the sidelines today as the S&P's 500 index and Dow Jones' industrials soared to all-time highs yesterday. Strong retail sales news helped give investors optimism regarding the economy. The Dow posted the biggest one-day percentage gain in nearly four years; up 270 points.

Some of the best performing ETFs yesterday included:

  • Claymore/BNY BRIC (EEB) - up 3.63%
  • iShares MSCI Brazil Index (EWZ) - up 3.37%
  • BLDRS Emerging Markets 50 ADR Index (ADRE) - up 3.04%
  • In addition, many of the ProShares leveraged ETFs were up even more because of the two beta leveraged feature.
