In a 13D filing on Atmel Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), Dan Loeb's ThirdPoint LLC discloses a 7.2% stake (35,000,000 shares) in the company. The firm did not show a stake in Atmel at the quarter ended March 31, 2007.
The firm disclosed past talks with the company's management and said they may engage in future talks.
Loeb's funds spent approximately $190,937,100 to acquire the 35,000,000 shares, on average about $5.45 per share.
