Apple (AAPL) did a major restocking of its stores over the last couple of days, with 155 out of 165 Apple Stores now having the devices in stock.

And as we started the weekend, iPhone buzz was back too, with the number of stories being written about the iPhone at major news outlets nearing 22,000 again as shown below

    Carl regularly paints a rosy picture of Apple's situation but these numbers, if correct, are very hard to argue with. Mr. Dvorak et al, can we agree? The iPhone is officially a success.

    Yes, of course, the network is slow and we have yet to see how long the battery will last before replacement is necessary. But these are problems with any phone, any device, in any sector. Thus, I'll spare you my rant about my RAZR which cost half-as-much as an iPhone and wasn't nearly as useful as my first cell in 1999, a Qualcomm brick, that cost $99 in the days before free phones were plentifull.

    So, all nitpicking aside, we have a winner. Yes?

    Thanks Carl. I look forwared to the time (in the not so distant future) when analysts actually wake up and start to figure out how Apple's digital ecosystem translates to future earnings; right now its clear that they don't get it. Let's see, there's the release of the iPhone in the US and the imminent release of the iPhone in the global marketplace (Europe, South America, Asia). There's also Apple's slice of revenue share with their carrier partners for all of the aforementioned territories. There's the upcoming release of Leopard, there are new laptops and desktops and new iPods. There's Apple TV and certainly a lot of accessories. Apple also has a new set of strategic alliances, Google, EA, etc. There's Safari for Windows and several newly published and unpublished patent applications; one's that will allow us to interact with our other Apple's and each others Apples. BTW - Apple also get's the benefit of the attendant first to market status and earning opportunities as well as the attendant B2B, B2C and C2C strategies. I'm very pleased to be a shareholder. All the best.

    @Dan -

    No one who knows anything about Apple takes Mr. Dvorak seriously. I used to admire his work, but that was 20 years ago. He's more of a shill for Microsoft these days than a true analyst. Whether or not he "recognizes" Apple's success with the iPhone isn't important; the fact that they (apparently) sold a million phones in a week is.

    A million phones may be a gross exaggeration.
    see:
    electronicdimension.bl...
    The number might be 150,000, or less.
    Until Apple or AT&T release real numbers, we can only guess.
    And ask, why are they being so tight-lipped? Is there something to hide?
    McDonalds used to keep track on their signs "Over 10 billion sold"

    Little shortage of iPhone buzz or actual stock in stores. Apple must be flipping iPhones faster than flapjacks.
