ETF Short Interest Steadily Decreasing

Hickey and Walters (Bespoke) submit: We took all of the U.S. and International equity related ETFs and calculated the monthly short interest ratios for ones that have been around for at least two years (65 US and 36 International). We then calculated the median short interest ratios of all ETFs on a monthly basis to see how it has changed in the past two years.

As the chart shows below, the short interest ratios for ETFs have been going down. We also highlight the current short interest ratios of the ETFs we analyzed sorted by largest to smallest.
