Seeking Alpha

I'm Michael Weinstein, editor of The Consumer Electronics Stock Blog. Since I'm constitutionally incapable of pitching something I don't believe in myself, I want to lay out five reasons why I'm convinced CESB is a must-read for investors (current and potential) in consumer electronics stocks:

1) We're for investors, not gadget geeks: Everyone enjoys browsing the latest gadgets on sites like Gizmodo and Engadget. They're fun, but they don't tell you anything about the financial implications of these innovations on the companies that produce them. If you're looking to buy a cellphone, great; but if you're looking to build a high-yield investment portfolio in wireless tech, you need to read CESB. We give you the company statements, sell-side analysis, and journalist insights necessary to to stay informed about investing in this sector.

2) We're humans, not machines: Newsreaders and search engines are helpful to aggregate headlines on companies you follow, but you still have to wade through the articles to find what really matters from an investment perspective. We're not about keywords -- we're about vital investment information. And they haven't invented a program for discernment.

3) We provide full conference calls, for free: As a part of the Seeking Alpha Network of investment blogs, we provide free, full transcripts of company conference calls -- and we separate prepared remarks from the Q&A sessions for your convenience. Until now, you had to listen to these calls on your own (lots of dead time...), or suffice with journalists' summaries (nothing more than sound bites on paper). Smart investors want to read the CEO and CTO's words for themselves.

4) We give summaries of sell-side research: What did Lehman Brothers analysts have to say about Motorola's new phone? Read CESB and get succinct summaries of analysts' stock ratings and sector analysis. With recent reforms in place on Wall St., these research notes are more independent -- and insightful -- than ever.

5) Smart categorization and cross-posting: Is the sector 'consumer electronics stocks' not niche enough for you? You can easily access articles on particular stocks and sectors right here. And since we're linked into the Seeking Alpha Network, you'll find articles in other fields entirely (like Chinese stocks) spill onto your lap only when they are relevant to your field of interest.
