Dividend stocks are wonderful because they increase my cash with regular payments. One major date in relation to the payment is the ex-dividend date. If you own a stock before this date, you get the next payment. This is very interesting because in the case of a high yield stock, I can earn at least one percent in cash for a short period of investing.

I screened stocks with ex-dividend date within the upcoming week. 75 common and preferred shares have their ex-dividend date between March 19 and March 25. Exactly 24 of them have a dividend yield above 5%. Many of them have a high yield because the market believes the dividend is not sustainable. Especially in the case of low capitalized stocks, the possibility of a dividend cut is much higher as for stocks with a higher capitalization. Because of this, I decided to select only those stocks with a market capitalization over $300 million and a yield below 10%. These are the results sorted by dividend yield:

1. Newcastle Investment (NCT) has a market capitalization of $691.04 million. The company generates revenues of $292.30 million and has a net income of $259.14 million. The firm's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounts to $189.77 million. Because of these figures, the EBITDA margin is 64.92% (operating margin 64.82% and the net profit margin finally 88.66%).

Twelve trailing months earnings per share reached a value of $3.50. Last fiscal year, the company paid $0.40 in form of dividends to shareholders. The ex-dividend date is on March 22, 2012. Here are the price ratios of the company: The P/E ratio is 1.88, Price/Sales 2.23 and Price/Book ratio 5.00. Dividend Yield: 9.68%. The beta ratio is 3.40.

2. Telecom Corp of New Zealand (NZT) has a market capitalization of $3.91 billion. The company generates revenues of $4,117.81 million and has a net income of $-65.01 million. The firm's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounts to $626.23 million. Because of these figures, the EBITDA margin is 15.21% (operating margin 1.06% and the net profit margin finally -1.58%).

The total debt representing 32.81% of the company's assets and the total debt in relation to the equity amounts to 90.94%. Last fiscal year a return on equity of -3.34% was realized. Twelve trailing months earnings per share reached a value of $0.03. Last fiscal year the company paid $0.68 in form of dividends to shareholders. The ex-dividend date is on March 20, 2012.

3. Pengrowth Energy (PGH) has a market capitalization of $3.65 billion. The company generates revenues of $1,149.40 million and has a net income of $85.54 million. The firm's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounts to $632.90 million. Because of these figures, the EBITDA margin is 55.06% (operating margin 16.51% and the net profit margin finally 7.44%).

The total debt representing 17.85% of the company's assets and the total debt in relation to the equity amounts to 30.10%. Last fiscal year, a return on equity of 2.59% was realized. Because of these figures, the EBITDA margin is 27.47% (operating margin 11.87% and the net profit margin finally 6.00%).

The total debt representing 50.96% of the company's assets and the total debt in relation to the equity amounts to 140.19%. Last year, a return on equity of 3.85% was realized.
