TOPIX: -8.90 (-0.58%), to close at 1,517.64, opened 10 points higher from prior close of 1,526.54, intra-day high of 1,538.63, intra-day low of 1,517.56
Nikkei 225: +34.26 (+0.23%), to close at 14,742.58, opened nearly 110 points higher from prior close of 14,708.32, intra-day high of 14,866.99, intra-day low of 14,721.60
JASDAQ: +0.21 (+0.19%), to close at 109.90, traded as high as 109.97, intra-day low of 109.67
Yen: upper Y118/US$1 range
Tech continued to advance powered by Advantest which gained 10% on the day and is now back over 10,000 yen per share. Its ADRs trade at a 4:1 ratio so its share price in the U.S. was 21.10 at market close Wednesday. Financial and domestic oriented stocks continued to trade downwards due to profit taking as these were the areas that have primarily led the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s surge. Also, there is some apprehension before big earnings releases by financial companies tomorrow, including Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (ticker: MTU).
