It's been awhile since we've posted on the battle between Apple and Exxon Mobil for the title of world's largest company, so below is an updated chart highlighting each company's market cap going back to 1990.

As shown, Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) market cap has gone parabolic over the past few years, and it has really widened the gap on Exxon over the past few months. At the moment, Apple's market cap sits at $555.7 billion, while Exxon is at $403.2 billion.

Exxon's market cap peaked out at $527.1 billion prior to the financial crisis, so Apple has now eclipsed Exxon's peak market cap level as well.
