About this author:

Funai Electric Co. (FUAIY.PK) has asked has asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to ban 14 companies, which includes Syntax-Brillian (BRLC) and its contract manufacturer, Taiwan Kolin, from importing their televisions to the United States. Funai's complaint also seeks to ban televisions from the 14 companies from being sold in the US.

Before filing the complaint, Funai has already filed suits against Syntax-Brillian and many of the 14 companies on claims that technology in their televisions infringed patents owned by Funai. The technology in question is mainly the digital television tuner used by the 14 companies and also image processing technology in some sets.

If the U.S. International Trade Commission approves the ban, this can be a severe set back for Syntax-Brillian. The company will be forced to settle with Funai for damages or else risk losing the right to sell and import televisions to the US, which accounts for the majority of their revenue.

IS there a patent attorney able to comment on the merits of Funai's claim?

Was there some oversight in the disclosure requirement here? In the last thing this person published a month ago - "more downside left" - they were short. Now, nothing... but the hack jobs continue.

    Interesting...
