In this article, I will focus on Communication industry stocks with upcoming earnings due in the next few weeks. These stocks were selected based on popularity, volume and, more importantly, significant price changes expected due to earnings results and forecasts.

Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ): April 19, 2012

AT&T Inc. (AT&T) is a holding company and a provider of telecommunications services in the United States and worldwide. Services offered include wireless communications, local exchange services and long-distance services. AT&T operates in four segments: Wireless, Wireline, Advertising Solutions and Other.
AT&T has a market cap of $181.06 billion and will report its first quarter earnings results on April 24, 2012, before market open. The first quarter revenues are expected to be $31.86 billion when compared to $31.25 billion for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the first quarter are expected to be 58 cents a share from 57 cents a share in the year ago period. AT&T is currently trading around $30.54 with a 52 week range of $27.29 to $31.97.
Sprint Nextel Corporation (S): April 25, 2012
Sprint Nextel Corporation (Sprint) is a holding company, with its operations primarily conducted by its subsidiaries. The Company operates in two segments: Wireless and Wireline. Sprint is a communications company offering a range of wireless and wireline communications products and services that are designed to meet the needs of individual consumers, businesses, government subscribers and resellers.
Sprint has a market cap of $8.03 billion and will report its first quarter earnings results on April 25, 2012, before market open. The first quarter revenues are expected to be $8.72 billion when compared to $8.31 billion for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the first quarter are expected to be a loss of 41 cents a share from loss of 15 cents a share in the year ago period. Sprint is currently trading around $2.68 with a 52 week range of $2.10 to $6.45.
MetroPCS Communications Inc (PCS): April 26, 2012
MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (MetroPCS Communications) is a facilities-based wireless broadband mobile communications provider in the United States, including the Atlanta, Boston, Dallas / Fort Worth, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando / Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Tampa / Sarasota metropolitan areas.
MetroPCS has a market cap of $3.05 billion and will report its first quarter earnings results on April 26, 2012, before market open. The first quarter revenues are expected to be $4.60 billion when compared to $5.30 billion for the same quarter last year. Clearwire has a market cap of $2.74 billion and will report its first quarter earnings results on April 26, 2012, after market close. The first quarter revenues are expected to be $316.21 million when compared to $242.03 million for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the first quarter are expected to be loss of 39 cents a share from loss of 93 cents a share in the year ago period.
