While October 19, 1987 is typically remembered as one of the worst days in market history, it should really be regarded as the buying opportunity of a lifetime. Since the close on 10/19/87, the DJIA has risen by 700%.
Since 10/18/87 (one day earlier), the total percent change falls to 518%.
