You want to be comfortable when you fly. Unfortunately, you can't always be so lucky. Behind you, a child kicks your seat and screams. In front of you, the passenger lowers his or her seat into your knees, and on your sides, you're in a constant battle over the armrests. Luckily, there are some ways to improve your odds of having a comfortable flight.
1) Look online for seat maps, quality ratings and more on websites such as LoveMySeat, SeatExpert, SeatGuru and SkyTrax. You can look at the plane's layout, read other passengers' recommendations and pick your seat accordingly.
2) Join a frequent flier program. Airlines often give the best seats to their repeat travelers.
3) Don't wait for the last minute. Buy your tickets in advance before all the good seats are taken. If this is not possible, come to the airport early to get the best seat possible.
