Given the frequent comparisons between him and Warren Buffet, it isn't a stretch to say that Eddie Lampert is one of the most highly regarded investors around today. Last night his hedge fund, RBS Partners, released their Q3 holdings which we highlight below.
As the list shows, unlike many hedge fund managers, Lampert lives and dies by his concentrated bets. Currently his $12 billion fund only has six holdings, two of which are new (CCU and HD). During the quarter, he also significantly increased his stake in Citigroup (C).
Below we highlight the performance of each of the holdings in RBS's portfolio during the third quarter. As the results show, it was not a pretty three months. During the quarter, the average decline in each of RBS's holdings was 12%, and the only stock that actually gained ground (MOT) is no longer in the portfolio.
So if you have been feeling down lately about how hard the market has been, maybe you can take comfort in the fact that it has also been giving headaches to some of the best investors around.
