Do you consider yourself a contrarian investor, looking for stock opportunities against the herd? For ideas on how to start your own contrarian search, we ran a screen.

We began by screening for underestimated stocks, those that are technically oversold, with relative strength index readings over the last 14 days below 40. We also screened for stocks that appear undervalued relative to earnings growth, with PEG below 1.

We then screened for those with bullish sentiment from short sellers, with significant decreases in shares shorted month-over-month representing at least 2% of share float. This indicates that short sellers are less bearish on these names than they were a month ago.
