Can emerging markets decouple from US and other established stock indexes? Some seem to think so:

I don’t know how much posting there is to do this week. I expect conditions to just chop about while awaiting employment data on Friday and Fed the following Tuesday. Naturally, I could be wrong as the news cycle is dynamic. Paulson’s rescue attempts - if completed - will generate positive headlines, but then comes the fun part of trying to assess just what was accomplished. Don’t worry, there are plenty of financial pathologists about to dissect and examine everything.

For now there’s not a lot wrong with cash.
