UWink's Interactive Games Provide Restaurant-Wide Entertainment
-

Uwink Inc. (Nasdaq: UWKI.OB), the purveyor of touch-screen entertainment while-you-eat, announced on Wednesday (November 28th) an enhancement to its gaming systems that will give users the ability to play real-time, multi-player games that allow for restaurant-wide, head-to-head and team game play.
uWink Trivia Live allows patrons throughout the restaurant to play a multiple-choice trivia game against one another in real-time (including real-time scoring), either head-to-head individually or in teams, using uWink’s proprietary tabletop touchscreen terminals.

Taking Interactive Restaurant Gamning To the Next Level

Now I don’t know about you, but this gets me very excited.
The ability to challenge that guy at table five that has been eyeing you all night to a duel of uWink Trivia Live makes the dining experience all-the-more enjoyable and interactive.
For those of you with a less competitive bent than me, there are other games that will be featured in the future such as uWink Scene Investigation (uWink’s riff on the popular CSI television series), Xingo (a mash-up of bowling and bingo) and Picture Perfect, uWink’s popular “find the differences” game.
Embarrass Yourself For All To See
The beauty of the new interactive games, aside of course from the obvious benefit of making the uWink experience much more fun and interactive for families and lending itself to a more mainstream and less technologically savvy crowd, is the fact that the game scoring and results are projected on the walls of the restaurant in real-time.
So you better be sure you know your stuff before you make that open challenge to play uWink Trivia Live against that other table because everyone’s going to see how you did.
CEO Nolan Bushnell stated:
“We are very excited about the successful launch of our real-time, multi-player game platform; not only does it increase face-to-face social interactivity and fun, it also sets the stage for restaurant-to-restaurant game play, and we look forward to extending the platform to online game play as well.”
Expanding the Offerings
uWink’s new game platform also allows uWink to run a myriad of unique in-person tournament and multi-player prize games, which could be good for groups that want to rent out a specific area of the uWink restaurant for a birthday party or other social gathering (think team meeting).
In addition, uWink plans to open its platform to third party developers in the near future. This could lead to increased revenue and licensing opportunities that will enhance the uWink concept and produce higher revenues and higher margins, which is a winning concept in my book.
What’s Not To Like
With innovations like these, it’s no wonder that I believe uWink is poised for a great future as long as they continue to execute and deliver in their expansion and turn their concept into a profitable one.
