Vodafone Essar, the Indian unit of U.K.-based Vodafone (VOD), said Monday it has agreed to an IT outsourcing deal with IBM (IBM) in India. The five-year deal sees Vodafone Essar outsourcing its entire IT portfolio to IBM India, a move it says will boost efficiency. "India is home to the fastest growing telecom market in Asia, and with that comes significant challenges including effectively managing growth and improving profitability," Vivek Gupta, director and country manager, communication sector, IBM India said. "IBM is delighted to share its extensive telecommunications industry insight and global IT outsourcing experience to help Vodafone Essar continue to deliver quality services to its rapidly growing customer base."
