Are there any areas of strength? Sure, those you’d customarily expect.

Investors are nervous and extremely anxious to hit the exit/sell button as evidenced by selling in commodity markets Thursday:

Emerging markets took some hits:

Lost in much of the noise Thursday was the spectacular rise in producer prices. In fact many financial news outlets barely mention it. This shouldn’t surprise. MarketWatch actually distracts you by discussing what a great investment TIPS are [NOT!!! Someday I’ll have to write about what crummy investments these are especially for individual investors] during times like this. Retail Sales were stronger primarily abetted by gasoline prices.

Major market sectors are in the repair shop and investors are still awaiting estimates. The seasonal push higher shouldn’t surprise with some powerful vested interests needing to show good performance for 2007.

Given market volatility and uncertainty there are good times for cash positions.

Have a great weekend!

Disclaimer: Among other issues the ETF Digest maintains positions in: IEF, GLD, UDN, DBC, RSX and IFN.

Can you please add IFN and IIF to the charts...
As you know, these are also in the limelight and like ETF traded India funds.

Could you pl add proshares S&P130/30 etf when it has developed some reasonable volume. Explanations of some terms as foot notes at the end might help some.

When I know anything about it I "might". Currently I don't know what index they'll be using or if they'll be performing their magic in-house.
